MLB Jock MKT Pick ‘Em – April 25th – New York Yankees at Minnesota Twins

Nestor Cortes Over 6.5 Strikeouts

Nestor Cortes has been on fire this season, recording at least seven strikeouts in his last two starts, and he looks poised to continue his success tonight against the Minnesota Twins.  Cortes has been particularly effective at home, where he’s pitched to a 2.13 ERA and held opposing batters to a .191 batting average. His command has been impressive, with just four walks in his last three starts, and he’s been able to generate swings and misses with his deceptive delivery and effective changeup.

The Twins have a middle-of-the-pack strikeout rate, but they’ve struggled to score runs this season, which could lead to Cortes piling up strikeouts as he works his way through the lineup. With the strikeout prop set at just 6.5, taking the over seems like a smart bet, especially considering Cortes’ recent success.

Let’s hammer this favorable line and cash the over tonight.

Franchy Cordero Under 0.5 Hits

Consider taking the under on hits for Yankees outfielder Franchy Cordero, which is currently set at 0.5. Cordero has been in a slump lately, going just 1-for-21 over the last 12 days. His OPS has plummeted from a robust 1.133 to a paltry .665 during that span.

The good times appear to be over for Cordero, who continued to struggle last night, striking out three times before being listed for a pinch-hitter in the series opener against the Twins. It was certainly a low point for Cordero in his short Yankees career, and unfortunately, there is no end in sight.  While he’ll likely remain on the roster with Harrison Bader still on the DL, it’s likely his playing time will diminish until he eventually loses his roster spot. So if you’re looking for a prop bet with some value, take the under on hits for Cordero tonight while he still has a roster spot.

The smart money is fading Cordero tonight, let’s cash this play.
