Fair Value Preview: Week 15

Week 15 is here and so is Jock MKT’s cash market! I’m here to guide you through some of the best value plays as well as steering you clear of those who may not be able to maintain their price.

Here are the Fair Value rankings and IPO prices for Week 15 along with some of my picks!

(* denotes questionable to play)

(** denotes not expected to play)

Buy: Alvin Kamara ($5.75)

With the news that Drew Brees is set to return from injury, Kamara instantly vaults back to his place as arguably the best asset in our market. He has averaged 9 targets per game when Brees starts and will get to tear up the soft Chiefs’ run defense on the ground. Nothing short of another Brees injury can stop this locomotive.

Don’t Buy: Russell Wilson ($7.92)

Russ finally got back to cookin’ last week with 4 TDs against the hapless Jets, but I’m less optimistic about his chances against Washington. The Football Team’s defensive line should live in the backfield and pressure Wilson all afternoon. They’ve allowed the 10th fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs on the season and I do not think Wilson overperforms his price tag on Sunday.

Buy: AJ Brown ($5.39)

Man, this dude is just built different. He has given new meaning to the phrase ‘statistical anomaly’ because it just needs to be expected when he steps on the field. Brown has at least one reception of over 30 yards in five out of eight games and just three games all season without a TD. The Titans are playing the Lions this week who can’t stop a nosebleed and Brown should do whatever he wants out there.

Buy: Justin Jefferson ($4.98)

Another exciting, big-play WR, Jefferson is in line for a huge day against the Bears. Allowing the 8th most fantasy points to opposing WRs over the past four weeks and most passing plays of over 25 yards in the same span, this defense is not what it was thought to be going into the season. Jefferson is an amazing value here.

Don’t Buy: Tua Tagovailoa ($4.97)

Tua had his best (statistical) performance as a pro last week, gashing the Chiefs for 316 yards and 3 total TDs. That being said, he is going up against the Patriots and more importantly Bill Belichik. He routinely puts rookie QBs through the meat-grinder and there’s no reason to bet that Tua will be the one to break this trend.

Buy: Jonathan Taylor ($4.79)

It happened, it finally happened, JT broke out. He’s earned PPF’s highest rushing grade since Week 11 and his 55 carries since then are 9th most at RB. More importantly, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins have receded into the darkness allowing Taylor to take over. The Texans defense is a joke and Taylor could double up on this value.

Buy: Cam Akers ($4.40)

It is officially rookie RB SZN (almost included JK Dobbins in my ‘Buys’ as well). The ol’ saying goes, “rookies get their legs under them by Thanksgiving.” Well, Akers has 327 yards in 3 games since Turkey Day and should not stop with the Jets coming to town this week.

Don’t Buy: Ezekiel Elliot ($3.93)

This one is pretty easy, Zeke could not get anything going against a porous Bengals defense with a positive game script, so there is little reason to think he can succeed against the 49er’s stout front. To further complicate matters, Tony Pollard has slowly become more and more involved in the Cowboys’ gameplan. Avoid Elliot.
